A road trip to the Black Sea via Kutaisi and Sataplia Reserve — and Batumi in the evening.
Kutaisi is the second largest city in Georgia. The 11th-century Bagrati Cathedral rises above the city on a hill, and Gelati Monastery, founded by David the Builder in 1106, is a symbol of Georgia’s golden age and a UNESCO site.
Sataplia Nature Reserve — a relict forest, a karst cave with stalactites and fossilised dinosaur footprints. The name means “the place where there is honey”.
Batumi is Georgia’s main resort and port on the Black Sea coast: a long boulevard, a botanical garden, modern architecture and a lively old town.
